When I say that it’s been going surprisingly well with Vaso, I mean that I’m almost glad we crashed the car and set out on foot.

...Almost.

Still, I haven’t had the time to speak to my sister like this in a long time. It feels like we sort of smashed through whatever wall was separating us and we’re picking our way through the debris.

Like, we stumbled upon a young Unicorn basking in the late night moonlight.

(Like, the most glamorous Unicorn I’ve ever seen, it made being up at 3:30am look walk-of-fame ready. Meanwhile, I’m a walking dumpster fire.)

And, it reminded me of something.

You could sort of tell they were still her favorite, the way she was falling over herself at the sight of it. Vaso has always had this thing where her size and stature sort of, how do I put this, intimidate the gentler animals and antagonize the bigger ones? She has that tough facade, but it was nice to see the little sister I remember come out from underneath.

Then, she brought up the Unicorn stuffed toy I made for her when we were kids. It came in a set I made, one of a Unicorn for her, and a Nightmare for me. We had all sorts of adventures with those raggedy dolls. I still have mine on my desk in my room.

It turns out, Vaso still has hers close as well. When she can’t sleep, she holds it close, apparently.

She threatened to chop my throat when I proceeded to ‘awwwwww’ at her....

....but AWWWWWWW.

I can’t stop smiling, I don’t know why I am, but I don’t want to stop.

Maybe, maybe I can get my relationship back with my little sister tonight as well as become an unstoppable team again.
